Full Tilt Boogie is a late-blooming Tall Bearded iris with 36-inch stalks. Its lighter purple standards are shaded umber-brown at the base, above smoky red-purple falls marked by a light center stripe, purple veining and a pale edge; the beard is orange. The [American Iris Society entry](https://wiki.irises.org/TbFthruJ/TbFullTiltBoogie) records the Schreiner 2017 introduction and these selection details.
## Growing Notes
Give it full sun for best flowering; it can still bloom with half-day shade, and some shade may help in especially hot climates. A well-drained site is important, and a slope or raised bed can help where heavy ground drains slowly. Plant rhizomes with their tops exposed. Schreiner’s recommends 12–24 inches of spacing for bearded irises; that is a planting interval, not a published mature width for this selection. See the [bearded iris planting guide](https://www.schreinersgardens.com/pages/how-do-i-plant-bearded-iris).
## Maintenance
Keep the bed free of weeds and debris so the rhizomes receive sun. Cut spent stalks close to the base after the buds finish, leave healthy leaves undisturbed through summer, remove brown or diseased leaves, and trim foliage to about 6 inches in fall. Divide before clumps become crowded, generally every 3–5 years; timing varies by region, and Schreiner’s recommends July through September, at least six weeks before the local first frost.
