About Bearded Iris 'Golden Panther'

‘Golden Panther’ is a tall bearded (TB) iris with heavily ruffled gold flowers overlaid in bronze, darker bronze along the edges, and bright golden-orange beards. The [American Iris Society profile](https://wiki.irises.org/TbFthruJ/TbGoldenPanther) lists a 34-inch height and midseason bloom. Place this 34-inch cultivar among mid-height plants in a sunny border where its gold and bronze tones stand out. In most climates, give it at least six hours of full sun and well-drained soil; light shade may help in very hot climates. Plant rhizomes with their tops exposed and water to settle the soil, following [Schreiner's planting guide](https://www.schreinersgardens.com/pages/how-do-i-plant-bearded-iris). ## Growing notes Water new rhizomes while they establish; once established, bearded irises typically need supplemental water only in arid areas, according to [Schreiner's care guide](https://www.schreinersgardens.com/pages/how-to-grow-care-for-bearded-iris). ## Maintenance Thin or divide clumps before overcrowding, generally every 3–5 years. [Schreiner's division guide](https://www.schreinersgardens.com/pages/how-do-i-divide-and-transplant-bearded-iris) gives July–September as a usual window depending on location.
