About Bearded Iris 'Imbroglio'

Imbroglio is a border-bearded iris registered by Keith Keppel in 2008 and listed by the American Iris Society at 27 inches tall, flowering from midseason into the late iris season. Its ruffled, lightly laced flowers combine veronica-violet standards, hyacinth-violet falls with roseblush hafts, and white beards tipped coral pink with pale blue ends. [AIS cultivar record](https://wiki.irises.org/Bb/BbImbroglio) ## Flower and placement The compact border-bearded class places its 27-inch bloom stalk among lower perennials and lets the flowers be viewed along a path or the front half of a sunny border. Use its violet, rose and white pattern where the detailed markings can be appreciated. ## Site and planting Schreiner's recommends at least six hours of sun for most irises, with some shade useful in very hot climates. Use well-drained garden soil; plant the rhizome shallowly with its top exposed and roots spread down into the soil. Divide crowded clumps about every three to five years; Schreiner's suggests July through September according to local conditions and planting at least six weeks before hard frost. Water new divisions well and continue during prolonged dry weather as roots establish. [Iris bed care](https://www.schreinersgardens.com/pages/how-do-i-care-for-my-iris-beds).
