About Bearded Iris 'Lacy Brilliance'

‘Lacy Brilliance’ is a tall-bearded iris with yellow standards and falls, pale around the beard, plus light-orange beard color. The American Iris Society lists it at 34 inches (86 cm) and records late bloom; consult the [AIS cultivar entry](https://wiki.irises.org/TbKthruO/TbLacyBrilliance). ## Placement Bearded iris grows best in full sun and rich, well-drained soil, though it tolerates some shade. Place the rhizome at soil level or cover it lightly, and leave it unmulched; heavy clay and excess moisture can cause problems. The [North Carolina State Extension guide](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/iris-x-germanica/) discusses perennial-border and cutting-garden uses. ## Maintenance Keep newly planted rhizomes moist as their roots establish. Afterward, water deeply at longer intervals when conditions are dry and avoid overwatering. Divide clumps in mid- to late summer after flowering. See the [American Iris Society care guide](https://www.irises.org/gardeners/care-classification/care/) and [Schreiner’s bearded-iris watering guide](https://www.schreinersgardens.com/pages/watering-your-bearded-iris).
