About Bearded Iris 'Mesmerizer'

‘Mesmerizer’ is a tall-bearded novelty iris with ruffled white flowers, tangerine-red beards, and large white flounces ending in pale-green button pompons. The American Iris Society lists a 36-inch (91 cm) height, midseason bloom, and rebloom reports for this cultivar; see the [AIS cultivar profile](https://wiki.irises.org/TbKthruO/TbMesmerizer). ## Placement Choose full sun and rich, well-drained soil; some shade is tolerated, but heavy clay and excess moisture are poor fits. Set rhizomes at soil level or cover them lightly and leave them unmulched. Use it in perennial borders or a cutting garden, as the [North Carolina State Extension guide](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/iris-x-germanica/) describes for bearded irises. ## Maintenance Keep new rhizomes moist while roots establish. Once established, the AIS cultural notes report tolerance of dry conditions; avoid waterlogged soil. Divide clumps in mid- to late summer after flowering. See the [AIS iris care guide](https://www.irises.org/gardeners/care-classification/care/) and [Schreiner’s watering guide](https://www.schreinersgardens.com/pages/watering-your-bearded-iris) for broader bearded-iris care.
