About Bearded Iris 'Over drinks'

‘Over Drinks’ is a tall bearded iris with ruffled dusky-cream standards marked purple along the midribs. The [American Iris Society cultivar profile](https://www.wiki.irises.org/TbKthruO/TbOverDrinks) records 41 inches (104 cm) in height, late-midseason bloom, dark maroon hafts blending to red-lavender-mauve at the edges, a white medial line, and a white beard tipped orange. ## Placement Give this iris a sunny site with rich, well-drained soil. Keep the rhizome at soil level or lightly covered and leave it unmulched; a raised bed or slope helps water drain away. These bearded-iris recommendations are described by [NC State Extension](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/iris-x-germanica/) and the [American Iris Society](https://www.irises.org/gardeners/care-classification/care/). ## Maintenance Water newly planted rhizomes well while their roots establish. After establishment, water deeply when the top three inches of soil dry, and avoid overwatering or standing water. Divide crowded clumps about every three to five years after flowering, usually in summer, and remove spent bloom stalks. The [American Iris Society care guide](https://www.irises.org/gardeners/care-classification/care/) covers establishment, division, and after-bloom cleanup.
