About Bearded Iris 'Pink Attraction'

‘Pink Attraction’ is a Tall Bearded iris introduced by Earl Hall in 1988; the [American Iris Society cultivar entry](https://wiki.irises.org/TbPthruT/TbPinkAttraction) records it at 30 inches (76 cm), with ruffled light-pink flowers, a faint violet streak below an orange beard, early-midseason bloom, and rebloom. The [AIS bearded-iris culture notes](https://wiki.irises.org/TbPthruT/TbPinkAttraction) and [Schreiner’s planting guide](https://www.schreinersgardens.com/pages/how-do-i-plant-bearded-iris) describe these irises as sun-loving plants for well-drained soil; Schreiner recommends at least six hours of sun. ## Flowering The original introduction records five to seven buds and two to three branches, plus a spur and terminal. Its August-to-October rebloom note is specifically for Ohio, so timing elsewhere can differ. ## Growing conditions Choose full sun for best flowering; the AIS group guidance says bearded irises may still bloom with half-day shade. It describes well-drained garden soil, tolerance of dry conditions once established, and intolerance of swampy conditions. ## Maintenance For planting, Schreiner advises leaving rhizome tops exposed and spreading roots downward. In very light soils or extremely hot climates, covering a rhizome by about one inch may be useful. Schreiner recommends spacing plants 12 to 24 inches apart; adjust spacing to the local site.
