Violet Turner is a tall bearded iris with violet-purple, two-toned flowers and a pronounced sweet fragrance. Schreiner lists it at 30 inches as early-midseason and reblooming; the breeder catalog and American Iris Society record differ on beard color and repeat-bloom timing.
## Flowering and form
The 2016 Schreiner catalog describes tangerine beards and summer rebloom. The American Iris Society registration records mustard beards and October rebloom. Treat repeat flowering as climate-dependent rather than a fixed seasonal promise. The catalog lists this selection at 30 inches tall.
## Site and planting
Give bearded iris at least six hours of full sun; Schreiner notes that some shade may help in extremely hot climates. Well-drained garden soil is preferred, and a slope or raised bed can help where drainage is slow. Plant rhizomes with their tops exposed and roots directed downward, then water to settle the soil. See the [Schreiner planting guide](https://www.schreinersgardens.com/pages/how-do-i-plant-bearded-iris).
## Maintenance
Schreiner recommends 12–24 inches between plants. Closer spacing creates a fuller display sooner but needs more frequent thinning. Keep the rhizome shallow and maintain open drainage.
