Jazz Hands® Variegated is the Proven Winners selection of Loropetalum chinense 'Irodori' (USPP 27,713), an evergreen shrub with pink flowers and distinctive seasonal foliage. New growth carries pink and white variegation, while mature leaves are rich purple; the [official plant profile](https://www.provenwinners.com/plants/loropetalum/jazz-hands-variegated-chinese-fringe-flower-loropetalum-chinense) notes that variegation develops later in the season as weather warms. It grows about 4–6 feet tall and 4 feet wide, with a mounded habit.
## Flowers and foliage
The main bloom time is mid-spring, with flowers listed for spring and summer. Pink blooms contrast with the foliage: new leaves emerge with pink and white markings, then mature to purple. The variegated effect becomes more vivid as the season gets hotter.
## Site and uses
Plant in part sun to sun in moist, well-drained, acidic soil. The shrub works as a specimen or hedge and also suits borders, containers, and mass plantings. It is listed as deer resistant and hardy in zones 7b–9b.
## Maintenance
Keep the plant growing steadily and avoid water stress; a little shade during the hottest part of the day encourages brighter variegation. Fertilize in spring, especially if the soil is poor, and shape after flowering only if needed. Mulch around the base in cooler climates.
