About Daubs Frosted Chinese Juniper

Daub’s Frosted is a low, spreading evergreen juniper whose golden new growth contrasts with older blue-green foliage. Its broad, ground-hugging form brightens borders and banks without relying on flowers for seasonal color ([Monrovia plant profile](https://www.monrovia.com/daubs-frosted-juniper.html)). ## Form and Color Monrovia lists the cultivar at about 15 inches tall and up to 5 feet wide, with vivid yellow tips set against pendulous, blue-green mature foliage. It is useful in mass plantings, rock gardens, and as an evergreen groundcover on slopes. The cultivar originated as a color sport of ‘Mordigan Gold’ and was introduced to the nursery trade by John Mitsch Nursery, according to the [American Conifer Society profile](https://conifersociety.org/conifers/juniperus-pfitzeriana-daubs-frosted/). Horticultural sources use more than one species or hybrid grouping for this selection, so its cultivar name is the most useful identification. ## Growing Conditions Give it full sun and well-drained soil. Monrovia lists USDA zones 4–9 and advises watering when the top 2 inches of soil are dry; deep, regular water helps during establishment, after which established plants tolerate some drought. Avoid persistently wet ground. ## Maintenance Fertilize before spring growth begins if needed. Remove damaged or wayward branches selectively, keeping cuts in leafy growth. The naturally spreading habit usually needs little routine shaping.
