Robusta Green Juniper

Robusta Green is an upright, evergreen Chinese juniper with dense, bright blue-green foliage and an irregular, columnar outline. This female cultivar can develop blue, berry-like cones and makes a durable vertical accent in sunny landscapes. Use it as a specimen, screen, or hedge where its upright shape has room to show. The foliage stays green through winter, and the plant tolerates urban conditions and drought after establishment. ## Growing conditions Plant in full sun in well-drained soil. It adapts to many soil types; water regularly while young, then reduce watering once roots are established. NC State lists USDA zones 4a–9b and notes that deer generally avoid junipers. ## Maintenance Water deeply during the first growing seasons and during prolonged drought. Keep mulch away from the trunk, and prune selectively to maintain the natural form rather than shearing into old, bare wood.
