Create design onlineAbout Sea Green Chinese Juniper
Sea Green is a compact evergreen Chinese juniper with a fountain-like outline and arching, spreading branches. Dark mint-green foliage gives it year-round structure and can deepen in color during cold weather ([North Carolina Extension profile](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/juniperus-chinensis-sea-green/common-name/sea-green-juniper/)).
## Landscape Use
North Carolina State Extension describes a mature size of about 4–6 feet tall and 6–8 feet wide. The compact spread suits foundation beds, borders, patios, and small groups; leave room for the plant to widen instead of clipping it into a narrow column. Evergreen scale foliage provides texture through winter.
## Growing Conditions
Plant in full sun and provide good drainage. Extension lists clay, loam, or sandy soil and USDA zones 4a–9b. Water according to soil texture: lighter soil needs moderate watering, while heavier soil generally needs little to moderate water. Junipers commonly decline in overly wet sites. The extension profile also notes established drought and salt tolerance and resistance to erosion.
## Maintenance
Water during establishment and reduce frequency once roots are established, adjusting during extended dry weather. Prune selectively to maintain a chosen height or remove damaged branches; routine hard shearing is unnecessary for its natural fountain form.
