Limeglow is a dwarf creeping juniper with feathery foliage that shifts from bright chartreuse and lemon-yellow to burnished gold in winter. Its low, spreading form suits rock gardens, sunny slopes, foundation edges, and broad groundcover plantings.
## Form and placement
This named selection is the yellow sport of ‘Youngstown’, selected by Larry Hatch with North Carolina State University; the Iseli plant page identifies its selection code as ‘NOSlg’. NC State describes a mounding plant about 1–3 feet wide, while Iseli lists a garden size around 2 feet tall by 4 feet wide, so plan for a footprint of up to 4 feet. The [NC State Limeglow profile](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/juniperus-horizontalis-limeglow/) describes the foliage and landscape uses; [Iseli’s exact cultivar listing](https://iselinursery.com/colorful-conifers/juniperus-juniper/juniperus-horizontalis-limeglow/) records the selection and its garden size.
## Growing conditions
Give Limeglow full sun and well-drained soil. NC State lists USDA Zones 3a–9b, drought tolerance, and a height range of 6–18 inches. The Iseli listing gives Zone 3 and notes that the selection suits hot, dry conditions. Water during establishment, then reduce irrigation as roots become established. Avoid wet sites, which can lead to root problems.
## Maintenance
This is a low-maintenance evergreen. Remove damaged branches as needed and trim the spreading edges if the plant outgrows its allotted space. Watch for common juniper scale and mite pests, especially where plants are stressed.
