Create design onlineAbout Icee Blue® Creeping Juniper
Icee Blue® is the Monrovia trade name for the creeping juniper cultivar ‘Monber’, selected for dense, spreading growth and silvery blue foliage. The low evergreen branches form a compact groundcover, and winter color can deepen toward plum purple in cold climates. The Monrovia plant profile lists USDA Zones 3–9, full sun, and a mature size of about 4 inches tall by 8 feet wide.
## Plant profile
The cultivar Monber was discovered as a sport of ‘Wiltonii’ and selected for its silvery blue color and dense crown. The Monrovia profile describes it as a moderate-growing, spreading plant suited to groundcover, borders, hillsides, and retaining walls. The supplied U.S. plant patent record identifies Monber and records a grant date of September 3, 1996; this is bibliographic information, not a statement about current patent status.
## Maintenance
Plant in full sun and well-drained soil. Water deeply and regularly during the first growing season, then reduce watering as the roots establish. Monrovia describes the plant as adaptable to heat, poor soils, and urban conditions. Leave room for its wide, low spread, particularly on slopes or beside retaining walls.
