‘Pendula’ is the named weeping selection of Temple juniper, Juniperus rigida, with an upright framework and gracefully sweeping branches. It is retained as a distinct cultivar record rather than merged with the species or with other weeping junipers.
## Form and landscape use
The American Conifer Society lists ‘Pendula’ as an established, published selection with an upright-weeping growth shape and blue-green color, suitable as a large specimen. The Chicago Botanic Garden’s archived plant profile identifies it as Weeping Needle Juniper, recommends full sun and specimen use, and lists USDA Zones 6–8. Use it where its cascading branch structure has room to show, rather than treating it as a low groundcover. The two references describe the selection itself; its eventual dimensions depend on growing conditions and training.
## Maintenance
Provide full sun and well-drained soil. Water during establishment and extended dry periods, then avoid keeping the root zone persistently wet. Retain the natural arching branches; remove dead or crossing growth selectively. If a particular trained outline is desired, prune conservatively so the sweeping habit remains visible.
