Moor-Dense® is a low, spreading evergreen cultivar of savin juniper with bright green foliage and a compact, layered habit. Monrovia identifies it as Juniperus sabina ‘Monard’ and describes it as a denser, more defined form of Broadmoor.
## Form and landscape use
Monrovia gives a mature size of about 8–12 inches tall and 5–6 feet wide, with full sun and USDA Zones 3–7. The foliage is valued for its green color and the plant’s low groundcover form; it can also cascade over a wall or planter. The plant patent record describes ‘Monard’ as a flatter, more symmetrical, softer-textured selection; Patent 6,656 was issued March 7, 1989. Monrovia’s history notes the introduction in 1987. Plant with room to spread, particularly where it will soften a slope, rock garden, or wall edge. Its published dimensions overlap the catalog’s existing approximate metric values.
## Maintenance
Use well-drained soil and avoid wet sites. Water thoroughly through the first growing season, then reduce frequency as the root system establishes; Monrovia advises watering when the top two inches of soil are dry and describes moderate drought tolerance after establishment. Mulch can suppress weeds while a new groundcover planting fills in. Remove damaged growth and trim the edges only when needed.
