‘Scandia’ is a low, wide-spreading selection of savin juniper, retained separately from the species and other named forms. Some authoritative profiles spell the same selection ‘Skandia’; Oregon State University explicitly lists ‘Skandia’ (‘Scandia’).
## Form and landscape use
The North Carolina Extension Gardener Plant Toolbox describes this female cultivar as a broad evergreen groundcover with bright green, scale-like foliage and bluish-black seed cones. It gives a typical size of about 18 inches high by 10 feet wide and recommends sunny, well-drained sites. Oregon State University describes ‘Scandia’ as a lower-growing form, roughly a foot tall and 6–8 feet wide, with gray-green foliage; it lists USDA Zone 3. These published size ranges differ, so allow a broad spread rather than relying on one exact mature width. The low habit fits slopes, rock gardens, and groundcover areas.
## Maintenance
Plant in sun and soil that drains freely; avoid persistently wet ground. Water during establishment, then taper irrigation as roots settle in. Prune only to control spread or remove damaged branches, cutting back to living foliage.
