*Chambeyronia oliviformis* is a solitary palm from New Caledonia, formerly classified as *Kentiopsis oliviformis*. Its tall trunk and arching, featherlike leaves make it a striking canopy specimen for warm, humid gardens.
## Plant profile
The Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria describes a single-trunk palm with a pale green crownshaft, arching dark green leaves, and ellipsoid red fruit. Its trunk can reach about 30 metres (98 feet) in height. Kew accepts *Chambeyronia oliviformis* and lists *Kentiopsis oliviformis* as a synonym, so both names refer to this species. See the [Kew Plants of the World Online record](https://powo.science.kew.org/taxon/urn:lsid:ipni.org:names:77220095-1) and the [Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria profile](https://hortflora.rbg.vic.gov.au/taxon/adad4dc6-5340-11e7-b82b-005056b0018f).
## Site and climate
Plant it in partial or filtered shade, with warmth, steady moisture, and acidic, well-drained soil. Its tropical rainforest origins make it a poor choice for cold or dry sites; give it shelter from frost and hot, exposed afternoon sun. This is a long-term landscape palm that needs ample vertical space.
## Maintenance
Keep the root zone evenly moist during active growth without leaving it waterlogged. Mulch to help moderate soil moisture, and protect young palms from cold and drying winds. Remove only dead or damaged fronds, using care around the crownshaft.
