‘High Roller’ is a large, clump-forming red hot poker with coral-orange buds that open to creamy white flowers on tall spikes. Its gray-green, arching foliage makes a substantial presence in a sunny perennial border, and flowering repeats through summer.
## Flowers and size
Walters Gardens lists the plant at 36–48 inches tall with a 24–28 inch spread, and describes weeks of bloom beginning in early to midsummer. The [PP32295 patent](https://patents.justia.com/patent/PP32295) records coral-orange buds opening to pale tepals, with repeat flowering into early August in Michigan. The patent describes a five-year-old plant under full sun with supplemental water and fertilizer; garden size and bloom timing vary with climate and care. The plant is a Walters Gardens introduction, and its exact product profile is available on the [Walters Gardens ‘High Roller’ page](https://www.waltersgardens.com/variety.php?ID=KNIHR).
## Siting and care
Plant in full sun and well-drained soil. The species tolerates heat once established, but supplemental moisture during flowering can support a fuller display. Its tall flower stems suit the middle or back of a border, where they rise above neighboring plants; allow room for the wide foliage clump. The flowers can also be cut for arrangements, and Walters lists hummingbirds among its garden features.
## Maintenance
In spring, trim leaf tips to encourage fresh growth. In cold-winter areas, protect the crown from water settling into the foliage and freezing, following local advice for red hot pokers. Remove spent flower stems if seed production is not wanted, and leave healthy foliage in place until new growth begins.
