Kniphofia 'Lady Luck' sends tall, densely packed white flower spikes from chartreuse buds above a broad clump of green, grass-like leaves. Its prolonged summer display brings vertical structure to a sunny border, and the flowers are useful for cutting; see the [Walters Gardens plant profile](https://www.waltersgardens.com/variety.php?ID=KNILU) for selection details.
## Garden Use
This Walters Gardens selection reaches about 5–5.5 feet tall and spreads 3–3.5 feet, creating substantial height without a woody framework. Use it toward the middle or back of a sunny perennial border, or plant several where the white spikes can repeat through the summer. The flowers attract bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds. Allow room for the foliage clump to develop.
## Growing Conditions
The developer lists the plant for USDA zones 5B–9 and full sun. Kniphofia grows best in well-drained soil and tolerates warm, relatively dry conditions once established; provide steady moisture while flower spikes are developing. In colder gardens, winter mulch can improve reliability, especially where heavy snow and wet winter conditions affect the crown.
## Maintenance
Leave foliage in place through winter in colder climates, then trim damaged leaf tips in spring. In zones 4–6, tie the leaves over the crown in fall to help keep water from collecting and freezing there. Remove spent flower stalks to keep the clump tidy and encourage continued display.
