Create design onlineAbout Poco™ Daybreak Red Hot Poker
POCO™ ‘Daybreak’ is a compact, reblooming red-hot poker whose flower spikes shift through butterscotch yellow, coral orange, and red above stiff, upright green foliage. Terra Nova lists foliage about 14in tall by 14in wide, flower stems to 20in, bloom from June through October, and USDA zones 6–9. ## Garden Use
This clump-forming POCO™ selection suits sunny borders and containers where its short, changing-color spikes can be enjoyed at close range. The breeder describes it as flowering throughout summer, lists full sun and average garden water, and notes that established plants tolerate drought. Hummingbirds visit the flowers, which are also listed for cutting. The published size separates the leafy mound from the flowering stems; plan for the flower spikes to rise above the 14in foliage. ## Maintenance
Water through establishment and extended dry spells, then keep winter soil freely draining. Remove spent flower spikes and leave healthy leaves until spring growth begins. Divide crowded clumps or separate offsets in spring.
