About Reblooming Red Torch Lily

Echo Rojo is a reblooming red-hot-poker cultivar whose flowers open orange and deepen toward red on strong upright stems. ItSaul reports early-spring bloom followed by summer rebloom, 48–52-inch stems, a 36-inch spread, and USDA zones 5–8; the patent records about 36 inches tall by 24 inches wide and zones 6–9. ## Flower and foliage The [ItSaul plant page](https://www.itsaulplants.com/plantname/Kniphofia-Echo-Series-Echo-Rojo) describes reddish-orange flowers that attract hummingbirds and butterflies and identifies the blooms as useful for cutting. The [USPP22791P2 patent](https://patents.google.com/patent/USPP22791P2/en) describes flowers changing from orange to red and semi-evergreen foliage. These published dimensions support a broad mature range of about 3–4.3 ft tall by 24–36 in. wide; the recorded USDA range spans zones 5–9 across the two sources. ## Site and care Give this clump-forming perennial full sun and fertile, well-drained soil. Most kniphofias flower best in sunny borders and need soil that does not remain wet in winter; see the [RHS growing guide](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/kniphofia/growing-guide). Use it in a sunny mixed border or cut-flower planting, allowing room for the foliage mound and upright stems. ## Maintenance Remove spent flower stalks after the display. Divide crowded clumps in spring, and keep the crown in free-draining soil through winter.
