About Pink Cloud Beauty Bush

Kolkwitzia amabilis ‘Pink Cloud’ is a vigorous, arching deciduous shrub with abundant clusters of bell-shaped pink flowers marked by yellow throats in late spring. The RHS lists mature dimensions of 1.5–2.5 metres tall and 2.5–4 metres wide, and recommends sun or partial shade with well-drained soil ([RHS](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/67708/kolkwitzia-amabilis-pink-cloud/details)). ## Garden Use Give this cultivar room to form a broad backdrop in a mixed shrub border or informal garden. Its spring flower display is the main seasonal feature, while the arching stems create a relaxed outline through the growing season. ## Growing Conditions It grows in chalk, clay, loam or sandy soils when drainage is good. Choose full sun for stronger flowering or partial shade where afternoon conditions are hot. Beautybush blooms on older wood, so heavy pruning can reduce the next spring display ([North Carolina Extension](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/kolkwitzia-amabilis/)). ## Maintenance Prune selectively after flowering only when the shrub needs shaping. Removing a few of the oldest stems helps retain its natural arching form while leaving younger flowering wood in place.
