About Weeping Golden Chain Tree ‘Pendulum’

Laburnum ‘Pendulum’ is a small deciduous tree with a graceful, strongly drooping outline. Its trifoliate green leaves frame hanging racemes of bright yellow, pea-shaped flowers in late spring. The [RHS profile](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/93138/laburnum-alpinum-pendulum/details) gives mature height and spread of 1.5–2.5 m (about 4.9–8.2 ft) and recommends full sun and well-drained soil; [Stanford’s tree record](https://trees.stanford.edu/ENCYC/LAB.htm) notes the cultivar’s pendulous branches; as Laburnum can be harmful if eaten, site it away from play areas where children or pets may chew plant material. ## Maintenance Water while establishing and through prolonged dry spells. Prune lightly after flowering to remove dead or crossing branches and preserve the cascading form. The RHS lists grafting to retain this named selection. Wear gloves when pruning.
