Ladybird® Sunglow is the former trade name for the plant now sold by Proven Winners as Superlophus™ Sunglow. The breeder identifies it as Oenothera ‘WNCYLASUN’; the Canadian plant-variety record uses the same denomination and trade name, while an older patent description used Calylophus hybrida. The current identity and family support updating the live genus to Oenothera and family to Onagraceae while retaining the catalog’s familiar Ladybird name and common names.
## Flowers and form
This compact, spreading plant has finely textured green foliage and bright yellow flowers. Proven Winners describes a mounding, trailing habit and flowering in spring and summer; the registered variety description independently notes almost continuous early to mid-season flowering and yellow petals. The current breeder profile gives a mature height of 6–12 inches and a spread of 18–24 inches. Those ranges are reflected in the structured labels, while the catalog’s 0.2-meter height and 0.5-meter spread remain plausible metric points within them.
## Placement
Use it in sunny containers or well-drained landscape beds. The breeder recommends full sun and good drainage and reports strong performance in hot, dry conditions once established. The existing minimum and maximum zone values were reversed; the current breeder page supports USDA zones 8–10, so the structured range is corrected to those endpoints.

## Maintenance
Avoid keeping the root zone continuously wet. Proven Winners reports that established plants tolerate heat and drought and that faded flowers do not need deadheading. For containers, monitor moisture more closely than in the ground. Trim only if growth becomes open or straggly; the breeder suggests a light cutback rather than a fixed annual pruning routine.
