About Black Diamond® Lavender Lace™ Crape Myrtle Tree

Lavender Lace™ is a Black Diamond® crape myrtle selected for pastel purple summer flowers and very dark foliage. J. Berry lists an approximate mature size of 10–12 feet tall and 8 feet wide, giving it a useful scale for a small garden, container, specimen planting, or flowering hedge. Its foliage stays darkest in full sun; in partial shade it may appear greener. ## Seasonal Interest Flowers begin in late spring and continue into fall, while the dark leaves provide contrast from spring through fall. This deciduous shrub or small tree can be allowed to develop a branched framework or selectively pruned to maintain a shorter form. ## Growing Conditions Plant in full sun and well-drained soil. Water thoroughly and regularly during establishment; J. Berry advises watering every other day during the first month and describes the plant as drought tolerant once established. The grower’s hardiness guide lists Zones 7–10 for a deciduous shrub or small tree, Zone 6 as perennial, and Zones 2–5 as annual; those colder classifications describe top dieback rather than shrub hardiness. ## Maintenance Use selective pruning in winter to shape or encourage branching, and mulch around the root zone to conserve moisture.
