Create design onlineAbout Hopi Crape Myrtle
Hopi is a semi-dwarf crape myrtle with medium-pink flowers and orange-red autumn foliage. North Carolina State Extension lists mature dimensions of about 3.35 m tall by 3.05 m wide and describes this mildew-resistant selection in its [crape myrtle profile](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/lagerstroemia-indica/).
## Growing
Plant in full sun and moist, well-drained soil. Crape myrtles benefit from shelter from winter winds and a layer of mulch over the roots in colder locations. The species profile notes that flowering is typically from July through September, while timing varies with climate and cultivar.
## Landscape use
Use Hopi as a flowering shrub or small tree where its rounded multi-stem form has room to develop. Its fall foliage extends seasonal color after the pink flowers fade. Allow for its mature spread and avoid siting it where frequent severe pruning would be needed.
## Maintenance
Water deeply during establishment and extended dry spells, then allow the soil to drain between waterings. If branches need thinning, prune in late winter or spring before new growth begins. Avoid topping, which can weaken the plant’s form and reduce flowering.
