Laguna® Sky Blue is the patented Lobelia erinus selection ‘WNLOLASKBL’ (USPP32655), with a freely branching, upright-to-trailing mound and blue flowers. Its patent describes flowering from spring until autumn frost in New Hampshire, while noting good garden performance and relative tolerance of heat, wind, and rain ([plant patent](https://patents.google.com/patent/USPP32655P2/en)).
## Appearance and Use
The branching, mounding-to-trailing habit suits the front of a planting or the edges of window boxes and hanging baskets. Blue flowers and fine green foliage make it useful as a seasonal filler and spiller.
## Growing Conditions
Lobelia erinus grows best in organically rich, moist but well-drained soil in full sun to part shade. Water consistently; the species does not tolerate drought. These general care recommendations are from [North Carolina State Extension](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/lobelia-erinus/). The cultivar’s patent describes relative heat tolerance, not drought tolerance.
## Maintenance
If flowering or foliage declines in summer, cut the plant back to encourage fresh growth and another flush of blooms. Keep the root zone evenly moist while allowing excess water to drain.
