About Dallas Red Lantana

‘Dallas Red’ is a compact lantana known for bright red flowers and a floriferous display. University of Wisconsin Extension lists it at about 24 inches tall and wide and notes that it blooms well. ## Garden Use Use this named selection in sunny borders, mixed beds, or containers where its compact growth and red flower clusters can add a strong seasonal accent. Lantana flowers attract butterflies and hummingbirds, and the species is often grown as an annual in cold climates. See [Wisconsin Extension’s cultivar notes](https://hort.extension.wisc.edu/articles/lantana/) for the Dallas Red size and flower description. ## Growing Conditions Provide full sun and well-drained soil. Wisconsin Extension reports that lantana handles heat and dry conditions, while excess water or fertilizer can reduce flowering. It also notes that lantana may behave invasively in some warm regions; check local guidance before planting near natural areas. Unripe berries are poisonous and leaves can irritate sensitive skin. NC State Extension gives broader species background in its [Lantana camara profile](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/lantana-camara/). ## Maintenance Water regularly as the plant establishes, then adjust to weather and soil drainage. Remove faded clusters if a tidier look or continued flowering is desired, and use care when handling foliage or berries. In frost-prone climates, treat it as a seasonal plant or protect it from cold.
