Ellagance Purple Lavandula

Ellagance Purple is a compact English lavender with silver-green foliage and large flower spikes. PanAmerican Seed describes it as uniform, early flowering, and well branched, with blooms that attract butterflies. ## Flowers and foliage This mounded selection flowers through summer and is suited to perennial beds and patio planters. Its strong stems and large spikes also make it useful for cutting and drying. The foliage is silver-green and holds up well compared with other lavenders. ## Growing conditions Plant in full sun. The product listing gives a mature height of 12–14 in. and width of 10–12 in., with hardiness in USDA zones 5–8. PanAmerican notes that the Ellagance group is cold tolerant and durable, and that plants can flower in their first year. ## Maintenance Allow space for the compact mound and its flower spikes, and choose a sunny spot in a border or container.
