Create design onlineAbout Lavance Deep Purple Lavandula
Lavance Deep Purple is a compact, upright English lavender with strongly scented, deep purple-blue flower spikes. PanAmerican Seed lists the selection at 10–12 inches tall and wide, with late-spring through late-summer flowering and USDA hardiness zones 5a–8b.
## Selection and Use
The breeder identifies the plant as Lavandula angustifolia and gives the selection code R7890A. Its controlled habit and summer bloom make it useful at the front of a sunny border, along an edge, or in a container. PanAmerican Seed notes that the flower color holds without bleaching during summer production and that the plant attracts pollinators while being unattractive to deer and rabbits.
## Growing Conditions
Choose full sun and a well-drained site. English lavender generally performs best where the root zone does not remain wet; the RHS species profile lists chalk, loam, and sand and recommends free drainage. Keep the plant’s compact spread in mind when grouping it with larger perennials.
## Maintenance
Water during establishment, then avoid frequent irrigation that leaves the crown or soil persistently wet. Remove spent flower stems after bloom and trim lightly to retain a compact outline, keeping cuts in leafy growth rather than old wood. The [Lavance Deep Purple plant page](https://www.panamseed.com/Products/037300062035511/lavandula-lavance-deep-purple/) provides the selection code, size, season, and hardiness; the [RHS English lavender profile](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/91398/lavandula-angustifolia/details) provides species-level soil and pruning guidance.
