Bandera Deep Purple is a compact Spanish lavender selection with vivid purple flower heads and a clumping habit. It brings a long summer display to sunny beds, containers, and other well-drained planting areas.
## Site and size
Choose a sunny position and well-drained soil; avoid keeping the root zone continuously wet. Fleuroselect lists plants about 22–25 cm tall and 25–28 cm wide, with flowering from mid-June through September. Its growing guidance calls for full sun and soil that dries between waterings. [Fleuroselect’s variety profile](https://fleuroselect.com/trials-and-awards/awarded-varieties/variety/bandera-deep-purple/en_US) identifies the deep-purple flowers and growing conditions; [PanAmerican Seed’s catalog](https://www.panamseed.com/documents/catalogs/18324_PASCatalog2020_Final_Allpages_LR.pdf) lists Bandera Deep Purple among the Lavandula offerings.
## In the garden
Use the compact mound near a path, in a pot, or at the front of a sunny border where the flowers can be seen closely. The purple bracts and flowers provide the strongest color effect, while the green foliage keeps the plant visually grounded between flushes.
## Maintenance
Water after planting and while roots establish, then let excess water drain freely. Trim spent flower stems to keep the plant tidy and encourage continued display. Protect it from persistently wet winter soil, which is a greater concern than brief dry spells for this well-drained-soil selection.
