Create design onlineAbout Javelin™ Compact Purple Lavandula
Javelin™ Compact Purple is the earliest-flowering and most compact selection in Syngenta’s Javelin lavender line. Syngenta lists it as an upright Spanish lavender for full sun, with purple flowers, a mature size of 14–20 inches high by 12–16 inches wide, and hardiness in zones 7b–9b.
## Plant Character
The breeder describes large, showy bracts held just above the foliage and a compact habit that suits quart and gallon production. In a garden, the small footprint works well in containers, the front of a sunny border, or grouped plantings. Syngenta also identifies the selection as pollinator-friendly and a heat lover.
## Growing Conditions
Provide full sun and free-draining soil. Spanish lavender is less cold-hardy than many English lavenders, so in colder regions use a container that can be moved to a protected place for winter. Avoid persistently wet soil.
## Maintenance
Water regularly while plants establish, then allow the surface soil to dry between watering. Remove old flower stems and trim lightly after flowering to maintain a compact shape without cutting into bare woody growth. See Syngenta’s [Javelin Compact Purple plant page](https://www.syngentaflowers.com/ams/product/flower/70088333) for the exact product identity, dimensions, zones, and growing information.
