About Edelweiss Lavender

Edelweiss is a compact, white-flowered lavandin with aromatic grey-green evergreen foliage. Its scented flower spikes rise above a rounded shrub in summer, brightening sunny borders and providing stems for cutting. ## Flowers and foliage The Royal Horticultural Society describes this selection as an evergreen shrub with branching, aromatic leaves and summer spikes of white flowers. Its profile places it in full sun and lists chalk, loam, and sandy soils. Plant it where the soil drains freely; lavenders decline in persistently wet conditions. ## Garden use Use Edelweiss as a small flowering shrub in a sunny border, gravel garden, or informal hedge. Its pale blooms stand out against silver-grey foliage and pair well with darker foliage or blue and purple flowers. Allow airflow around the plant rather than crowding it. ## Maintenance Trim lightly after flowering to keep a rounded outline, stopping before cuts reach bare old wood. Remove damaged stems in spring and avoid heavy feeding.
