About Paris® Blue - Lavender dentata

Paris® Blue is a compact, heavily branched French lavender selection with violet-blue flowers. Green Fuse lists a garden height of 12–15 inches and Zone 7, and describes its branching as producing three to four times as many blooms as traditional dentata lavender. ## Plant Character The selection is identified as Lavandula dentata Paris Blue, code LPABL01-0. Its patent describes a dense, bushy, freely branching plant with violet-blue flowers and colorful terminal bracts. The compact outline and generous bloom make it suitable for sunny containers, courtyard plantings, and the front of a warm-climate border. ## Growing Conditions Give it a sheltered position in full sun and sharply drained soil. French lavender is less cold-hardy than English lavender; in frost-prone regions, grow it in a container that can be protected over winter. Allow the soil to dry somewhat between watering and avoid waterlogged conditions. ## Maintenance After flowering, deadhead and trim lightly to maintain its rounded shape, keeping cuts in leafy growth rather than old wood. Protect container plants from hard frost and winter wet.
