About Lavish® Purple - Lavender stoechas

Lavish® Purple is a Spanish lavender selection grown for purple-toned flower bracts, fragrant gray-green foliage, and a long flowering display. Green Fuse describes the Lavish® series as one of the earliest lavender groups to flower, with abundant bracts and blooms that can continue for months; the catalog lists a garden height of 12–18 inches and Zone 7. ## Form and placement Use the upright flowering stems in sunny borders, gravel gardens, or containers where water drains freely. The purple flower heads bring strong color among silver-leaved plants and lighter spring flowers. The published garden height is useful for planting design, while a mature spread for this particular color is not specified by Green Fuse. ## Growing conditions Give Spanish lavender full sun and sharply drained soil. It tolerates dry conditions after establishment but may struggle in cold, wet ground. The Royal Horticultural Society describes the species as evergreen and aromatic, with a long spring and summer flowering season. ## Maintenance Remove spent flower stems after the main display. A light late-summer trim helps prevent a straggly shape, but do not cut into old wood. Avoid autumn pruning in cold or wet regions.
