About Layla™ Blue Lavendula angustifolia

Layla™ Blue is the Blue selection in Danziger’s LAYLA™ series, a compact and upright English lavender with strongly fragrant flowers. Danziger lists a mature size of 12–14 inches high by 14–16 inches wide and a long flowering season from spring into fall. ## Plant Character The breeder describes well-branched plants that flower in their first year without a bulking or vernalization period. Danziger categorizes the growth habit as upright, identifies the variety as Blue within the LAYLA series, and gives a USDA hardiness range of zones 5–9. Its modest footprint fits sunny borders, pathway edging, and containers where fragrant flowers can be enjoyed close by. ## Growing Conditions Plant English lavender in full sun and well-drained soil. The Royal Horticultural Society notes that the species can grow in acidic, neutral, or alkaline soil when drainage is good, and lists chalk, loam, and sand among suitable textures. Avoid persistently wet ground and leave room for airflow around the foliage. ## Maintenance Deadhead after the main flowering flush and trim lightly in late summer before stems become straggly. Keep cuts in leafy growth rather than into old wood; in wet or cold climates avoid hard autumn pruning. See Danziger’s [Layla™ Blue plant page](https://www.danzigeronline.com/catalog/perennials_catalog/layla-blue/) for the exact series, variety, dimensions, and breeder guidance, with the [RHS English lavender profile](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/91398/lavandula-angustifolia/details) for species-level cultivation notes.
