Create design onlineAbout Let's Dance Lovable Bigleaf Hydrangea
Let’s Dance® Lovable® is a mounded bigleaf hydrangea with pink mophead blooms that can shift blue in acidic soil with available aluminum. It grows about 3–4 feet tall and wide, reblooms on old and new wood in summer, and has dark-green foliage that turns burgundy in fall; the cultivar is ‘SMNHMTB’, listed as USPP 35,317 and Canadian PP 7,587 ([cultivar profile](https://serv3.provenwinners.com/plants/hydrangea/lets-dance-lovable-bigleaf-hydrangea-hydrangea-macrophylla); [patent record](https://patents.google.com/patent/USPP35317P2/en)).
## Form and Flowers
Large rounded flower clusters sit above dark-green leaves. The selection flowers on old wood and continues on new growth. The breeder notes that it is sold pink; acidic soil and aluminum can deepen blue tones.
## Garden Use
The 3–4-foot outline suits a mixed border, foundation bed, mass planting, or patio container. Flowers can also be cut or dried for arrangements.
## Growing Conditions
Plant in part sun or sun, with afternoon shade in hotter climates. Keep soil moist but well drained and water during dry spells. Bigleaf hydrangeas tolerate clay or sandy textures when drainage is good. [NC State Extension’s species guide](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/hydrangea-macrophylla/).
## Maintenance
Routine shaping is rarely needed. If trimming is wanted, wait until after the early-summer flowers and finish before August 1 to protect next season’s old-wood buds. Check soil pH before adding amendments and follow product directions.
