About Leucanthemum 'Lemon Puff'

‘Lemon Puff’ is a compact Shasta daisy with double flowers that open lemon yellow, fade toward white, and show gold centers. Terra Nova lists a 10-inch foliage height and 22-inch spread, with flowering stems reaching about 16 inches. ## Plant Character The mounding plant flowers from June through August and is rated for USDA Zones 5–9. Its low foliage and taller blooms work along a border edge, in containers, or repeated through a mixed bed; the stems can also be cut for arrangements. Terra Nova reports average garden soil and water needs. ## Growing Conditions Grow in full sun and well-drained soil. Water while the roots establish, then avoid keeping the crown soggy. NC State Extension notes that established Shasta daisies can withstand some dry periods, though extended drought may reduce flowering. The blooms draw pollinating insects, and deer usually browse them less than many garden plants, though no plant is deer-proof. ## Maintenance Deadhead spent stems to keep the plant tidy and support further flowering. Divide crowded clumps in spring or fall every few years. Watch for aphids, leaf miners, leaf spot, and powdery mildew.
