About Snowcap Shasta Daisy

‘Snowcap’ is a compact Shasta daisy with dark green, toothed foliage and single white flowers with yellow centers. The Walters Gardens profile lists a 12–15-inch height and about a 12-inch spread, while the Royal Horticultural Society gives a broader mature range of 0.1–0.5 metres; these references describe a low, clump-forming perennial whose size varies with growing conditions. [Walters Gardens](https://www.waltersgardens.com/variety.php?ID=LEUSN) and the [RHS plant profile](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/251258/leucanthemum-snowcap/details) both describe summer flowering in full sun. ## Growing notes Use Snowcap in sunny borders, along paths, or in a smaller perennial bed. It grows in a range of garden soils, provided drainage is good; keep soil moderately moist while plants establish. The RHS lists chalk, clay, loam, and sandy soils and recommends well-drained conditions. Allow space for a clump to expand rather than crowding it against neighboring plants. ## Maintenance Deadhead during summer to prolong the display and remove tired stems after flowering. Divide established clumps when they become congested, preferably in spring. Clear declining foliage at the end of the season and keep the crown from sitting in waterlogged soil.
