Create design onlineAbout Shasta Daisy 'Goldfinch'
‘Goldfinch’ is a compact, mounding Shasta daisy whose semi-double blooms open bright lemon yellow and gradually fade to ivory white. Terra Nova lists foliage about 19 inches tall and 23 inches wide, with flowering stems around 24 inches.
## Plant Character
The changing flower color gives this cultivar an extended display from June through August. It suits sunny borders, containers, mixed beds, and cutting bouquets; green foliage dies back for winter. Terra Nova rates it for USDA Zones 5–9 and describes its growth as fast.
## Growing Conditions
Plant in full sun and average, well-drained soil. Provide regular water as the plant establishes, then avoid persistently wet ground; established Shasta daisies can manage some dry periods, though flowering may lessen in prolonged drought. The flowers are attractive to pollinators. Deer generally find Shasta daisies less appealing, but browsing can occur when other food is limited.
## Maintenance
Deadhead spent flowers for a tidier plant and possible repeat bloom. Divide older clumps every two or three years in spring or fall if the center becomes crowded. Check leaves and stems for aphids, leaf miners, leaf spot, and powdery mildew. Consult Terra Nova’s [‘Goldfinch’ plant profile](https://www.terranovanurseries.com/product/leucanthemum-goldfinch/) for its color progression and dimensions, and [NC State Extension’s Shasta daisy guide](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/leucanthemum-x-superbum/common-name/shasta-daisy/) for species-level culture and safety information.
