About Shasta Daisy 'Switzerland'

Switzerland is an upright Shasta daisy with clean white flowers and a long summer display. The Chicago Botanic Garden lists it as a full-sun perennial for USDA Zones 4–9, with blooms from May into August. ## Garden profile The bright flowers suit perennial borders and attract butterflies. Its bloom timing reflects the Chicago garden calendar and will shift with local climate. Perennial leucanthemums grow best in sunny locations and ordinary soil that drains freely; light shade is tolerated, while deep shade and persistently wet or very dry soil can reduce flowering. This familiar Shasta daisy is a landscape perennial rather than the weedy ox-eye daisy, Leucanthemum vulgare. ## Maintenance Water while the plant establishes and during extended dry weather, but allow the soil to drain between waterings. Remove faded flowers to keep the display tidy, and divide mature clumps in spring every few years if they become crowded or flower less freely. The [Chicago Botanic Garden profile](https://www.chicagobotanic.org/plant-information/plant-finder/leucanthemum-x-superbum-switzerland-shasta-daisy) gives selection-specific light, bloom, wildlife and hardiness information; the [RHS perennial Leucanthemum guide](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/leucanthemum/perennial) covers general growing conditions and division.
