About Purple Rain Texas Sage

Purple Rain is a named Texas sage cultivar in Civano’s plant collection, bred as a dense, upright alternative to ‘Heavenly Cloud’. Its lightly fragrant purple flowers attract birds and bees, and the official profile lists it at 6–8 feet tall and wide for full sun in hot, dry Southwestern landscapes. See the [Civano Purple Rain plant profile](https://www.civanogrowers.com/plantcollection/leucophyllum-laevigatum-%27purple-rain%27-pp35354). ## Growing Conditions Choose a sunny site. Civano describes Purple Rain as drought resistant and low-water, and notes that Texas sage thrives in hot climates and poor soils; water new plants until established, then adjust irrigation to rainfall and heat. ## Maintenance This cultivar is described as dense, fast growing, and low maintenance. Allow room for its mature spread and keep the natural upright form; remove damaged growth when needed.
