About Little Rocket Ragwort

Ligularia ‘Little Rocket’ is a compact, upright perennial with greyed-green foliage and yellow-orange ray florets around yellow centers. Its slender flower stems rise above a shorter mound of foliage, bringing vertical summer color to a moist, partly shaded border. ## Size and flowering The breeder’s [Future Plants profile](https://www.futureplants.com/perennial-varieties/ligularia/ligularia-little-rocket) lists foliage about 60 cm tall, flowering stems about 120 cm tall, and a spread near 80 cm. It gives Zones 4–8, flowering from May through July, and notes that the plant can be grown in containers. The page describes the selection as compact, but it still sends up taller flower stems above the foliage. ## Site and display Grow it in moist, well-drained soil in sun or shade. The yellow flower heads contrast with the toothed leaves and dark stems, and the clumping form suits a border or a large container. Avoid allowing the soil to dry out during active growth. ## Maintenance Keep moisture consistent, especially in warm weather, and provide some afternoon shade in hot locations. Remove spent stems and cut back the foliage after it dies down. Divide established clumps when they become crowded.
