Cheyenne is a cold-hardy selection of common privet grown as a deciduous shrub. Red Butte Garden lists the cultivar at about 8 feet high and 6 feet wide, with white flowers, average water needs, and exposure from full sun to part shade. University of Illinois Extension notes that Cheyenne tolerates heavy shearing.
## Form and landscape use
Glossy green foliage and tolerance for clipping suit this privet to formal or informal hedges and screens. The 8-by-6-foot dimensions are a useful mature-size guide; shearing can keep a hedge smaller, while an untrimmed shrub retains a broader natural form. Red Butte Garden lists hardiness zones 4–8 for this cultivar. White flowers appear from late spring into early summer and may be followed by dark fruit, as in common privet.
## Maintenance
Grow in full sun to part shade and in soil that drains well. Water through establishment and during prolonged dry weather. Shear as needed to maintain a dense hedge, or prune selectively to preserve a looser shape.
