Variegated Chinese Privet is Ligustrum sinense ‘Variegata’, a foliage selection with pale margins contrasting with green leaf centers. The University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture Extension identifies the plant by this name and shows both its shrub form and variegated leaves.
## Foliage and placement
Use it where the light leaf edging can be seen against darker plants or a green background. The existing 6–8-foot size and zone range remain useful landscape estimates; final size and winter leaf retention vary with climate, exposure, and pruning. Chinese privet can escape cultivation in parts of the southeastern United States, so check local invasive-plant guidance before planting and remove unwanted seedlings promptly. Privet generally responds to shearing, but allow room for its natural spread if grown informally.
## Maintenance
Plant in a site suited to local conditions and keep the root zone watered while the shrub establishes. Inspect for seedlings and prune to maintain the intended form.
