About Sunny Martinique Oriental Lily

Sunny Martinique is a compact, fragrant Oriental lily bred for pot culture, with dark-pink flowers edged in white. Its upright habit, sturdy leaves, and freely produced blooms are described in U.S. Plant Patent PP24,673, dated July 22, 2014. It measures about 46 centimetres tall and 21 centimetres across in its trial; a commercial pot-grower profile lists 16–18 inches tall. The supplier describes four to seven flowers per stem and a fragrant display, with summer and late-summer flowering. Use it as a patio-container focal point or in a sunny, sheltered border. ## Growing conditions The breeder’s Sunny series consists of naturally short Oriental pot lilies with fragrant flowers and green foliage. Provide sun or morning sun with afternoon shade, plus a well-drained growing medium. The product profile lists USDA Zones 4–9; conditions and flower timing vary among regions and growing systems. ## Maintenance Water consistently during stem and bud development, but keep the bulb out of standing water. Shelter flowering stems from strong wind, especially in exposed containers. Remove spent flowers while retaining foliage until it yellows naturally.
