QIS Apricot is an upright statice selected for long, sturdy stems bearing papery apricot-pink blooms. Ball lists it for summer and late-summer cutting, while the seed-grown species is usually treated as an annual in colder gardens.
## Flowers and use
The branching stems carry clouds of tiny, non-shattering flowers, and the cultivar is offered for fresh or preserved cut-flower production. Cut stems when the papery calyces have colored and hang small bunches in a cool, ventilated place for drying. The [Ball Seed plant profile](https://info.ballseed.com/WEBTRACKPLANTINFO.ASPX?PHID=139101222000290&env=P) lists an upright habit, medium water needs, full sun and a height of 30–35 inches; the 12–16-inch figure there is spacing, while the listed plant width is 8–10 inches.
## Growing conditions
Give statice a sunny position and light, well-drained soil. The [North Carolina Extension Plant Toolbox](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/limonium-sinuatum/) advises avoiding excess water to reduce crown and root rot, and notes that established plants tolerate dry conditions. This species may be grown as a short-lived perennial in mild climates, but commonly serves as an annual for summer color and cutting where winters are cold. Allow good air movement around the stems, especially in humid weather.
## Maintenance
Water moderately while plants establish, then avoid keeping the soil saturated. Harvest stems as flowers develop for bouquets or drying; the long-lasting calyces retain color after cutting. Remove spent plants at season’s end in cold regions. The [RHS Plants Apricot profile](https://www.rhsplants.co.uk/plants/_/limonium-sinuatum-qis-apricot/classid.2000046849/) also describes the apricot-pink flowers and gives species-level planting and drying guidance.
