QIS Mixture statice is a seed-grown selection of Limonium sinuatum for airy cut-flower stems in a range of colors. Its upright plants produce clouds of small, durable florets that can be used fresh or dried.
## Growing and Flowering
Ball’s QIS mix may contain most or all of the series colors, so individual plants can vary; it is not a single-color selection. The series is grown in full sun for summer and late-summer harvests, with mature plants about 30–35 inches tall and 8–10 inches wide. QIS statice is used as a filler in professional arrangements, and its non-shattering florets and sturdy stems support shipping and handling. Grow in well-drained soil and avoid persistently wet conditions; the species performs best with light to medium moisture and may struggle in high heat or humidity. [Ball Seed’s QIS catalog](https://www.panamseed.com/documents/catalogs/16486_PASKieft_2019_Catalog_Final_LR.pdf) describes the series and mixture; [NC State Extension](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/limonium-sinuatum/) provides species-level growing guidance.
## Maintenance
Sow or transplant for a sunny, well-drained site and allow airflow around the stems. Harvest when at least half the florets are open and their calyces are colored. Hydrate cut stems promptly; statice can also be dried for long-lasting arrangements. Avoid overwatering, which can contribute to root and crown rot.
