About QIS Pale Blue Limonium

QIS Pale Blue statice is a seed-grown Limonium sinuatum selection with airy, pale-blue flower stems. Its upright growth and long-lasting florets make it useful as a cut-flower filler, fresh or dried. ## Growing and Flowering The QIS series is grown in full sun for summer and late-summer harvests. Plants reach about 30–35 inches tall and 8–10 inches wide; the producer recommends 12–16 inches between plants, which is spacing rather than mature width. Tiny florets hold their color and resist shattering, while sturdy stems generally need no netting in production. Grow in well-drained soil with light to medium moisture, and avoid persistently wet conditions. Heat and humidity can shorten performance. [Ball Seed’s QIS catalog](https://www.panamseed.com/documents/catalogs/16486_PASKieft_2019_Catalog_Final_LR.pdf) identifies Pale Blue among the series selections; [NC State Extension](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/limonium-sinuatum/) gives species-level care guidance. ## Maintenance Provide full sun and good air circulation. Harvest when at least half the florets are open and the calyces are colored; place stems in hydration solution after cutting. Dry stems can be used in preserved arrangements. Avoid overwatering to reduce root and crown rot.
